A HALE bakery celebrated its centenary with an anniversary party at the Assembly Rooms in Hale.

Nearly 300 guests attended the celebrations for Hills' Bakery, including the Mayor, Cllr Patricia Young, and her consort, Cllr Michael Young.

Musicians from Altrincham Grammar School for Boys, who also celebrate their centenary this year, entertained the guests, who enjoyed samples of some of the cakes, pastries and breads sold by Hills.

Outside there was a display of farm machinery from 1930s, 1940s and 1950s.

Three generations of the Hills family attended the event.

Sheila Hill said: “What a splendid day, we really had a party atmosphere. We are very proud of what the business has achieved across the decades and the support that our customers continue to give to the bakery.

"We would like to thank the Mayor for joining us, the businesses who provided raffle prizes and all those who came along and helped to make it such a wonderful and memorable occasion.”
