Music train from Altrincham to Chester
7:01pm Monday 15th October 2012 in News
PEOPLE are being invited to take the 'Jazz Train' between Altrincham and Chester on Wednesday.
Live music on the train from Knutsford to Chester, taxis to and from jazz and food at Alexander's in Chester and more live music back from Chester to Altrincham.
The popular Trevor Carlisle Quartet are playing lively jazz at Alexanders in Chester and Ola Ness (and tuba) performing on both trains. Ola was educated at the Grieg Academy in Bergen and at the RNCM in Manchester. Ola has performed with many great groups, including the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra (Norway) and the Halle Orchestra and most of the country's top brass bands. As a soloist he has appeared with many brass bands, locally the Stockport Symphony Orchestra, and not-so-locally the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra.
Book the package deal of bangers ’n mash plus taxis to and from the station at Chester online at www.alexanderslive.com and purchase your train tickets separately in the usual way.
Catch the Jazz train at Altrincham at 18.46 and hear the music from Knutsford onwards or board at other stations if you wish.
The Music Train is arranged by the Mid-Cheshire Community Rail Partnership with Alexanders Café Bar. It uses one of the Mid Cheshire Line’s regular hourly services to Chester, operated by Northern Rail, which stops at all stations. It arrives at Chester at 19:45 and leaves at 22:44. You should buy your ticket for the train journey from a ticket office or the conductor on the train. Northern Rail’s Duo ticket allows two adults to travel together for 75% of the cost of two standard adult returns.
