Olympics honour for Trafford community projects

NINE Trafford projects have been honoured with a special plaque for their Olympic-inspired community work.

The projects, which were set up as a result of the Games, will make their mark on history by having a special plaque dedicated to them in Olympic Park.

The ‘Wall of Inspiration’ will be made up 650 ‘mini plaques’ of the London 2012 Inspire projects and will be permanently housed in the Copper Box venue.

The Trafford organisations, whose projects have been honoured, are Let’s Go Global, Trafford Council, Trafford Community Leisure Trust, the MU Foundation, Manchester United Foundation, Flixton Girls High School LGBT and the Reporters Academy.

Executive councillor Jonathon Coupe said: “I’m proud that so many people engaged in the community side of the Olympics and were able to be part of it in such a unique way.”
