A FURNITURE store offering cut price items for residents in Trafford has been launched by Trafford Housing Trust.

The Rainbow Furniture Centre recycles high quality sofas, wardrobes, beds and other furniture and has opened its new store on Malvern Row, Old Trafford.

The delivery of purchased furniture from Rainbow is free and more information about what’s for sale can be found at rainbowfurniturecentre.weebly.com.

The launch event on the September 28 was attended by dignitaries including Stretford and Urmston MP Kate Green.

Rainbow is also encouraging people to donate their furniture to be re-sold rather than sending unwanted goods to landfill sites. Rainbow will pick up furniture donations, asking only for a contribution towards fuel costs.

Deborah Elgar, of Trafford Housing Trust, said: “The Rainbow Furniture Centre is a fantastic project that will help our customers and other Trafford residents access some great furniture at prices they can afford. The quality of what we have to offer is excellent – and local residents can come down to the new store or have a look at what’s available through our website.

“We’re also asking anyone who is looking to get rid of their furniture to get in touch with the trust as we may be able to come and collect it without charge.”

The Rainbow project is supported and part-funded by Recycle for Greater Manchester, who donated a van to Rainbow, as well as Safer Trafford Partnership and Altrincham and Stretford Community Panels.

The project is part of Trafford Housing Trust’s CleanStart programme, which gives ex-offenders volunteering and training opportunities and helps them back into work.
