Traders Outlet is now bringing vintage and crafts to Sale

INDEPENDENT traders in Sale and Altrincham are hand-making a recovery from recession.

Altrincham's newest retail space - no 16 The Downs - has been an instant hit.

It comprises a floor dedicated to vintage and crafts above the Altrincham branch of the Trader's Outlet.

And following this success, Traders Outlet has now decided to also open up the top floor of its Sale store to vintage and craft retailers.

Situated on the town’s busy Tatton Road, it already houses 50 different retailers over two floors.

Owner Mathew Wray.said: "Since No. 16 The Downs has opened we’ve been inundated with positive comments from customers and enquiries about spaces from would-be traders.

"We simply can’t accommodate any new traders in Altrincham so it seemed the perfect time to expand."

No 16 The Downs is a joint venture between Mathew and Marcus Wray, the owners of Traders Outlet, and Gail Titchener who runs the vintage and craft side of the Altrincham’s monthly Sunday market.

Many of the traders from No 16 The Downs also have stalls at the town’s monthly vintage, craft and producers' market.

Mathew added: ‘We currently have 98 per cent occupancy across the two sites – which indicates independents are definitely the way forward. Customers like the extra attention they get buying from the people who own and run the businesses."

An open evening is being held for traders interested in spaces in the Sale store on Tatton Road between 6-9pm on October 25.
