12:00pm Monday 15th October 2012 in News By Kate Banks, Reporter
TWO children at a Sale Muay Thai boxing club won prestigious titles this month.
Jordan Ward, 12, won the World Kickboxing Association (WKA) North West title, winning on points after fighting five one and a half minute rounds.
Fellow Northern Spirit Muay Thai member, eight-year-old Tamia Ward, also won on points, fighting five one minute rounds to become WKA Interclub champion.
Tamia’s mum, Mary, is a former champion herself, and was also trained by club instructor, Lisa Howarth, at Sale West.
Children at the club compete from as early as four-years-old, before moving onto adult tournaments at 16.
Following the recent English Championships in Birmingham, Nakeisha Craig, 14, will travel to Poland with the England team next month and Dakota Ditcheva, also 14, will represent the UK at the World Championships next year.
Children’s and Adult training classes take place at Sale West Community Centre every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, email lisa.m.howarth@hotmail.co.uk for more information.
