Specsavers launches winter shoebox appeal

ALTRINCHAM shoppers are once again being called upon to help hundreds of vulnerable children and elderly people in the UK and beyond this Christmas.

Specsavers in Altrincham is collecting donations as part of its annual festive shoebox appeal which will help those in desperate need during the cold winter months.

Store administration manager Louise Henshall said: "We are appealing for anyone with any unwanted gloves, scarves, hats and socks as well as items such as soap, toiletries, pens and paper, to put them in a box and bring them into store.

Items collected before November 9 will be distributed by Computers for Charities to disadvantaged people in the UK including the elderly and children, as well as those in Eastern Europe and Africa.
