Evacuation at the Lowry

A PACKED house of mainly senior citizens was evacuated from the Lowry on Wednesday, during a matinee performance of Carousel, the musical.

They were told to go as far away from the main building as possible and a fire engine turned up.

Aimee Wood, the Lowry's media relations executive, said: “The fire alarm went off when someone accidentally lent on a smash glass.

“The process of evacuation went very smoothly and the second half was only delayed by 20 minutes.”
