The funerals of PC Fiona Bone and PC Nicola Hughes to be held next week at Manchester Cathedral

THE funeral of PC Fiona Bone will be held at Manchester Cathedral on October 4 at 10am.

The service for her colleague, PC Nicola Hughes, who died alongside her in a gun and grenade attack last week, will be held the day before at 1pm.

Police officers and members of the community took part in a vigil to remember the two officers at the scene in Hattersley, on Tuesday.

Officers walked from Hyde Police Station to the scene of the killings, at the junction of Ashworth Lane and Abbey Gardens, and held a minute's silence at 10.58am.

Addresses were given by Ch Sup Nick Adderley, divisional commander for Tameside, and the Reverand James Halstead, a community representative.
