Theatre's nude calendar for charity
ACTORS and volunteers at Altrincham Garrick are being cheeky - for charity.
In the week the theatre stages Calendar Girls, the society has produced its own nude calendar to raise funds for a good cause
It features cast members from the Tim Firth comedy and some of the playhouse’s unpaid staff who fill numerous roles behind the scenes.
All profits from the calendar will go to Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research, the charity that benefited in the true story that inspired the stage play.
Jon White helped organise the project by attracting sponsorship from Trafford companies and Victoria Johnson, who plays Ruth in the current production, helped find the photographers.
He said as well as raising funds for charity, he wants the calendar to raise the profile of the volunteers and said some people were more reluctant than others to shed their clothes. Jon said: “Some people were more enthusiastic than others.
There were some people who were completely naked but obviously it’s very tastefully done.
The thing about Calendar Girls it’s not about what you do see it’s about what you don’t see. It’s the suggestion.
The calendar sold 60 copies on the opening night of the play and it will be available at the theatre box office and behind the bar until Christmas, priced £7.99
Jon said everyone involved in the projject is grateful to photographers Ian Sprott and Alan Dean, from Warrington District Camera Club who gave their services for free and helped some people relax in front of the camera.
