CORONATION Street star Paula Lane will take part in not one but two runs next month to raise money for Trafford Charity, Henshaws Society for Blind People.
Paula, who plays Kylie in the soap, will compete in the Great Yorkshire Run on September 2 and the Great North Run on September 16 with her partner and fellow actor, Tom Shaw.
The actress became an ambassador for Henshaws after visiting the resource centre in Old Trafford and when she heard about one of the charity’s youngest clients, Oscar O’Sullivan.
Glen Lockett, Henshaws’ Head of Fundraising, said: “Paula contacted me after reading about 3-year-old Oscar in the local press, she was determined that she wanted to help the charity and has done
so ever since.
“She’s only just completed the Virgin London Marathon raising over £2000 and now she is decided to do two big runs, in one month! We can’t thank her and Tom enough!”
The pair have been involved with the charity in many other ways this year, including speaking at Henshaws annual Carols by Candlelight event at Manchester Cathedal and attending the Henshaws
Anniversary Ball.
Paula said: “The work Henshaws does is amazing. I was so touched by the services that they provide – seeing what a difference they make to visually impaired people and to their families and
friends.”
