A SALE schoolboy has won a top prize in Manchester University’s UK Schools Animation Competition, Animation 12.
The Stockport Grammar School pupil, Christian Anderson, beat a nationwide field of over 900 entries to win the award.
Christian impressed judges with his ‘War with Mathematics’ entry along with ‘The Inspiration’, a joint entry with fellow pupil Yusuf Ahmed, of Mobberley.
‘War with Mathematics’ won first prize in the Turing category for animations which celebrated the work of Alan Turing, the famous code-breaker widely known as ‘the father of computer science’.
The animation was also highly commended in the Key Stage 4 individual entry group.
This is Christian’s second consecutive year as a prizewinner in the competition, after being recognised in 2011 for his animation about staying safe online.
It may even be three in a row for Christian, who is already working on his entry for 2013!
The winning animations are available at www.stockportgrammar.co.uk.
