THE South Manchester Radio and Computing Club (SMRCC) had a special visit last week as the Mayor of Trafford, Cllr Mrs Patricia Young, and her Consort, Cllr Michael Young, dropped in on their Olympic broadcast.

The Mayor and her Consort talked over the airwaves, speaking for about 12 minutes in total and sending Mayoral greetings from the borough.

SMRCC have been broadcasting from their club house at Trafford’s Metrovicks premises. They have been broadcasting across the world via shortwave throughout the Games and will continue to do so until the end of the Paralympics on September 9.

Members of the public are welcome to drop in on the studio, and will even have the chance to talk live on air.
