A MAN has been arrested in connection with an attack on an 80-year-old man in Old Trafford.

At around 12.20pm on today (August 7), a 27-year-old man went into a police station in Salford.


He has since been arrested on suspicion of assault and taken into police custody for questioning.


The attack, which happened shortly before 10.55am on Sunday, July 29, saw an elderly man kicked and punched as he sat in his Vauxhall Astra at the junction of Kings Road and Upper Chorlton Road.


The attacker approached the car and opened the door, before kicking and punching the man in his face and head, as he sat helpless inside his car.


He then walked off down Kings Road. The victim suffered facial injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.
