Aeyshia Broom searches for the seaside at Stretford Mall
A STRETFORD model turned heads at a busy shopping centre in her search for the seaside.
Aeyshia Broom, 21, a Manchester Metropolitan University student, was at Stretford Mall ahead of the launch of ‘Life’s A Beach’ at the busy shopping centre.
From August 15 to 17, the seaside will come to Stretford Mall with a beach scene, including real sand, created in the centre of the shopping centre.
Parents will be encouraged to pull up a deckchair and take a break while their children take part in sandcastle competitions and craft activities.
Aeyshia, who lives nearby to the shopping centre, came to modelling when she was encouraged by a friend to take part in a recent competition – Miss Grosvenor Casino.
She won her regional heat to make it through to the national finals in Coventry earlier in the summer.
While keen to carry on with a part time modelling career, she is also studying to become a chartered accountant and has just finished a year placement in the finance department of Wythenshawe Hospital.
Aeyshia said: “A lot of my family come from Urmston so I have been coming to the Stretford Mall since I was tiny and my mum is in here all the time.
“I remember coming here as a child during the school holidays to join in the activities they had going on. I used to always look forward to coming here to have my face painted!
“I think Life’s A Beach sounds like a great event for the summer break especially as the weather has been so bad – why not bring the seaside indoors!”
Her enthusiasm was matched by Stretford Mall manager, Colin McCrory, who said: “We have all been so disappointed by the miserable, wet weather this year so we thought we would remind everyone that it is summer and make it something which families could enjoy while they come and shop with us.
“There will be a chance for shoppers to find out more about summer promotions which are on among our retailers and for children to make the most of the fun seaside activities on offer in the heart of the Stretford Mall.”
