Council to charge for planning advice

TRAFFORD Council has introduced charges for pre-planning application advice.

The charges apply to all advice given ahead of submission of planning applications except for adaptations and extensions to buildings specifically for disabled people and for advice on heritage buildings.

Advice will be given in writing and within specified timetables.

A comprehensive self-help section on the council’s planning website has also been developed to help householders who do not want to pay for advice.

Executive councillor Michael Hyman said: “We are always looking at how we can work more efficiently and use our resources as wisely as possible.
