TRAFFORD is set to celebrate the Olympics in great style with a series of town centre events billed as “an exciting multi - cultural programme of music, dance and food."
Taking place during Games-time, each event is called 'Trafford Welcomes the World' and will showcase the culture and traditions of a selection of Olympic football teams playing at Old Trafford.
Five events will take place in towns across the borough; Sale town centre will feature a USA theme, Altrincham has Spain, Stretford is teamed up with the continent of Africa, Urmston has Brazil, and Partington celebrates with a Team GB theme.
Everyone is invited to these outdoor events and can enjoy balloon modelling, face painting, dancing, football coaching and a delicious range of world food and drink.
Cllr Matt Colledge, the leader of Trafford Council, said: "Trafford welcomes the world is our opportunity to showcase the area and to highlight why it's such a great place to live and visit. Trafford is the only host borough in the north west for the Olympics and this benefits our local economy and global profile.
"The Olympics are very important to us and these events are a great opportunity for people to experience the rich and diverse cultures of the countries that will be playing at Old Trafford during the games."
Trafford will welcome the world at Sale and Altrincham on July 28, Stretford on August 1, Partington on August 2 and Urmston on August 4.
