A TALENTED youngster from Sale has won first prize in a painting competition organised by Marie Curie Cancer Care as part of the charity’s Mini Pots of Care fundraising activity.

Brooklands Primary School pupil Lucy Charlesworth cam out on top in a competition that saw hundreds of children across Greater Manchester put forward painted daffodil pot wrappers to compete for first prize.

Mini Pots of Care is a free creative and educational project for schools and groups which teaches children about science, nature and the work of Marie Curie Nurses, who provide free care to people with a terminal illness in their own homes..

Lucy, aged seven, said :”I am really happy to have won first prize in this competition! I had a lot of fun decorating it and am very pleased that the judges like it so much too.”
