An 82-year-old woman has fallen victim to a distraction burglary in Urmston

AN 82-year-old woman has fallen victim to a distraction burglar in Trafford.

At around 11.10am on Monday June 25 at her home on Albany Court, Urmston, the woman answered her intercom to a man claiming to have a parcel for her.

She walked downstairs and spoke to the man. While she was distracted, another man walked into her home and stole a number of items, including her handbag, purse and mobile phone.

After the victim finished the conversation, she walked back upstairs where she was confronted by the second man. He ran past her and out of the building.

The woman was unhurt.

He is described as being white, between 25 and 35-years-old, around 5ft 8in tall. He had fair short hair, was clean shaven and wore dark clothing.

The man claiming to have a parcel is described as white, between 25 and 35-years-old, around 5ft 8in tall, of slim build. He had short dark hair and was clean shaven. He wore a t-shirt with horizontal stripes and blue jeans. He is said to have spoken with a local accent.

PC Alfred Gumbs, from the Volume Crime Team, said: “Although the victim was not hurt, she has been left distressed by what has happened to her and feels unsafe in her own home.

“These men have taken advantage of her due to her vulnerability and have committed a heinous crime.

“If anyone saw these two men acting in a suspicious manner in the area or may have fallen victim to them, please contact police as soon as you can.”
