A TALENTED teenage musician was inspired to write a song after visiting her great uncle at St Ann’s Hospice.
Lizzie Brankin performed her song 'Time' in front of 2,700 fellow walkers at Manchester Central on Saturday before they all set off on the Manchester Midnight Walk.
She completed writing the song only after David Toft, from Gladstone Road, Altrincham, had died last December at the age of 75 after losing his fight with cancer. He was a lollipop man at Broadheath Primary School.
“He was treated at St Ann’s Hospice and it was after I first went to see him that I got the idea for the song,” said 18-year-old Lizzie who has just completed a two-year course at Manchester Music Base and wants to carve out a career in the music industry.
“It was a great experience to perform before the walk and it was just a shame my great uncle didn’t get the chance to hear the song,” added Lizzie of Lindsell Road, Altrincham.
