Two men have been arrested after a break-in at a home in Stretford

TWO suspected robbers have been arrested after a break-in in Stretford.

At around 2am this morning (June 15), a 58-year-old woman was confronted in her home on Seymour Grove by two intruders armed with crowbars.

One offender told the other to “get the gun”.

The woman shouted to her sons, aged 32 and 29, for help.

She managed to escape and raise the alarm as her two sons struggled with the intruders.

Officers arrived at the house within minutes where they discovered a 27-year-old man had been detained.

He was arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary and possession of a firearm, recovered by police nearby. The suspect remains in police custody for questioning.

The two brothers were treated at hospital for minor injuries sustained during the struggle.

Detective Inspector Debbie Oakes, from Trafford CID, said: “The occupants’ extreme bravery coupled with our rapid response has led to the arrest of a suspect and I must commend the efforts of those involved, in particular, the two brothers at the address.

“The fact we have recovered a loaded firearm demonstrates the offenders are serious criminals and I would urge anyone with information about those involved to contact us.”

A 30-year-old man has also been arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary and remains in police custody for questioning.

Anyone with information is asked to call Trafford CID on 0161 856 9168, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
