Come and take part in the Sale West Games
4:00pm Wednesday 20th June 2012 in News
TRAFFORD residents are being invited to take part in the Sale West Games on June 23 as part of the borough’s 'Summer of Wellbeing'.
The games will be held at Sale West Community Centre on Newbury Avenue.
An ‘opening ceremony’ will be held at 11am, and the events will run from 12noon to 3pm.
There will be free activities for people of all ages, including rugby and football workshops, zumba lessons, skateboarding and karate club.
For those who want to take part in less physical activities, there will also be gardening sessions, arts and crafts, and chess, and a cooking demonstration will be held. Refreshments will be available throughout the day.
Marie Price, health improvement officer at NHS Trafford, said: “The Sale West Games aim to bring the community together to embrace the spirit of the Summer of Wellbeing, which is a festival of events inspired by Trafford’s status as an Olympic Games host.
“The activities have been designed with the five ways to wellbeing in mind: enjoy the moment; hang out with friends; get involved; challenge your brain and lend a hand. There is something for all the family, so we hope that the whole community will come along and get involved on the day.”
The games have been arranged by the Sale West and Ashton Partnership, which includes residents as well as NHS Trafford, Trafford Council, the Irwell Valley Housing Association, Trafford Housing Trust and Trafford College.
