A MAN from Altrincham is putting in hours of training as he hopes to help raise over £10,000 for charity this month.

Mike Davies is part of a 17-man team taking part in the Three Peaks Challenge.

The team, called Volkswagen Trampers, is made up of staff from Inchcape Volkswagen car and van retailers across the UK, including the Altrincham retailer, and is raising money for the automotive charity BEN.

The charity provides practical, emotional and financial support for current and past employees of the automotive industry.

Mike has been training with team captain and Inchcape Volkswagen franchise director, Tony Gorrighan, as they aim to be the first of nine Inchcape teams to climb the three mountains of Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon.

Mike, after sales manager Inchcape Volkswagen, said: “The training has been tough but we’re determined that Volkswagen Trampers will be the first Inchcape team to finish the challenge.”

The team, made up of 13 climbers and four drivers, is hoping to complete the task in under 24 hours, starting at Ben Nevis on June 22.

Mike added: “The challenge will see the team walk more than 40km, climb more 3,400 metres and travel over 550 miles between the mountains.

“I’m sure they will be few sore legs and backs afterwards, but if we hit our target fundraising total it’ll be all worth it.”
