Man airlifted to hospital

A MAN was airlifted to hospital after falling and breaking his ankle while in the grounds of a Sale school when it was closed.

The 19-year-old suffered the injury in the grounds of locked-up Sale High School, on Norris Road, at 2.50pm on Sunday.

Ambulance and fire crews were called to the incident.

The air ambulance was brought in because access for a regular ambulance was blocked.

The school said the incident did not involve a pupil.

Well the man got in somehow, he could have been got out again. Sounds like it should have been the police called out, not the air ambulance the £10,000 a time.

The guy was playing football with his mates and simply got injured. Apparently there was no indication of criminal intent, just an unfortunate accident.
You may be forgiven for thinking otherwise as the Messenger has once again failed to provide all the facts. Suggest you read the MEN report in full. It states that an Air Ambulance costs £550 per hour and was only used as access was not possible for an ambulance. You're way off the mark with £10,000.
