SALE youngster Remi Campbell added more accolades to his growing collection by becoming British Junior Thai Boxing Champion and holder of the Super League belt - all in one day.

The eight-year-old Firs Primary School pupil fought off competition from across the country in Birmingham last weekend to take home both belts, to add to his English open title which he won last November.

His mother, Gee Bates, revealed that Remi’s trophies take up most of her living room now due to his success: “He’s got 42 trophies and three belts now and he tells me he wants them all on show so everybody can see them.

“I’m so proud of him and what he’s achieved and as long as he gives 100 per cent, win or lose he’s given it all.”

Remi, who trains at Sale West Community Centre, is trained by former British Kickboxing Champion Lisa Howarth, and his mother revealed she could be the secret to his success.

She said: “He really likes training with Lisa and he trained really hard in the two weeks leading up to the tournament.”

Remi is now enjoying a short rest period before he prepares for his next tournament.
