Metrolink services suspended

TRAM passengers are facing major disruption this morning, as Metrolink tram services on the Altrincham and Eccles lines have been suspended after cable theft and vandalism in the Cornbrook area.

The damage has also led to the public address systems at the affected stops to be out of action, meaning no announcements can be made to passengers there.

A Metrolink shuttle bus service is operation as follows: Trafford Bar - Altrincham.

Atrincham - Trafford Bar.

Trafford Bar - Eccles.

Eccles - Trafford Bar.

Passengers can use their tickets and passes on the following bus services: Altrincham line = Arriva 263.

Eccles line = First 33.

The Bury line and the South Manchester line from Victoria to St Werburghs Road are operating 12-minute services.

I was just one in amongst the chaos of this earlier today. Complete confusion and mayhem describes it pretty well. We were standing at Exchange Quay tram stop for 15 minutes before they bothered to announce to us there was no tram. The replacement bus arrived 30 minutes later. Time and time again this service makes me late for work - their service is dreadful. The electronic signs never work, for a start, so you never know when a tram is coming! They don't seem to even follow their supposed timetable. And, if their lines are being repeatedly vandalised, how about having some CCTV, or a few security guards stationed? It took me two and a half hours to get to East Didsbury today. It's moronic.

A dreadful service at normal times anyway. I never use it unless I absolutley have to. Drive instead.
