A DISGRACED former police sergeant who had sex with a vulnerable woman while on duty has been jailed.

Peter Jee, 38,of Bents Lane, Urmston, admitted a charge of misconduct in a public office.

He was sentenced to two years in prison at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court.

On August 20. 2010, Jee, who at the time was a response sergeant based in Rochdale, attended an address with two constables in response to a 999 call from a vulnerable woman who was threatening to harm herself with a knife.

After the three officers dealt with the incident and left the address, Jee later returned and had sex with the woman.

When the matter was reported an investigation was carried out by Greater Manchester Police's professional standards branch..

Jee resigned from GMP on January 14, 2011.

Deputy Chief Constable Ian Hopkins, said: "The overwhelming majority of GMP staff work to the highest levels helping and supporting members of our community, often making personal sacrifices to do so.

"They do this because they care passionately about protecting people.

"Sadly, Jee's inexcusable actions let everyone down: those that we protect and those that work selflessly to deliver policing across Greater Manchester.

"I want to reassure everyone that we do not and will not tolerate such behaviour.

"The sentence given sends out a clear message that society expects the highest standards from those who have a duty to protect them."
