Man arrested after attack on Metrolink passenger

A MAN has been arrested by detectives investigating an assault at the Metrolink station in Sale.

Police were called to the platform shortly after 11.05pm on Saturday where they found that a 51-year-old man had been assaulted and knocked unconscious.

Following an appeal to trace a passenger from the tram, a 27-year-old man handed himself in to police.

He was arrested on suspicion of assault and has been bailed until June 12, pending further inquiries.

Inquiries are continuing.
