PREMIER League footballer Jermaine Pennant has been charged following a collision in Sale.

The Stoke City winger, of Dunham Road, Altrincham, has been charged with drink-driving, driving while disqualified and having no insurance.

He is due to appear at Trafford magistrates on May 9.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: "At about 5.20am on April 29, police were called to Cross Street, to reports a white BMW collided with a silver Audi.

"The driver of the Audi went to hospital for treatment. He was treated for a minor injury to the back. He has been discharged."
