Well Spotted: The answer was Flixton House
9:47am Thursday 19th April 2012 in News
WE asked people to correctly identify this section of a Trafford building.
The answer was Flixton House.
Correct guesses came from Andy Stewart on Twitter, Karen Robb via Facebook and Margaret McGeown, Suzanne Minshall, Rob Kennedy, Caroline Jackson, Amanda Ashcroft, who all e-mailed in.
Flixton House was built in 1806 by the Wright family, who were wealthy land owners.
The family held the house and land until 1934, when Urmston Urban District Council bought it for £69,793.
The park, now owned by Trafford Council, was officially opened to the public in 1935.
Flixton House and its surrounding buildings were designated a grade two listed building in 1981.
Last week, Paul Grourk, from Timperley, correctly guessed the Altrincham Market Trader clue.
The solution to this week’s Well Spotted teaser will be revealed in next week’s paper and on messengernewspapers.co.uk.
People can place their guess on Facebook page Messenger Newspaper, Twitter account MessengerNews_ or by e-mailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
