Sale physio helps Sir Ian Botham to stride out (From Messenger Newspapers)

AFTER a 26 mile walk from Manchester city centre to Tatton Park last Sunday, Sir Ian ‘Beefy’ Botham gets his feet treated by Sale physio David Roberts, pictured.

“The relentless pace takes its toll, “says David, who’s accompanied Botham on his walks for the past 25 years.

“Not only do his feet take a clattering but his whole body aches so I spend a good couple of hours at the end of each day stretching and massaging him ready to start all over the next day.

The challenge is as mentally challenging as it is physical for him.”

Beefy is taking in 10 cities across the UK and covering 150 miles. The walks, which began in 1985, have raised more £13 million in aid of Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research.
