ALTRINCHAM-based marketing agency RMS is celebrating its sonic success after securing a Golden Hedgehog award for Best Public Affairs Campaign of the Year.

The award-winning agency picked up the spiky-shaped gong for its work on saveourseafarers.com – a global effort to end Somali piracy.

Ruth Shearn, managing director at RMS, said: “This campaign is one of a kind and we’ve achieved global coverage in the New York Times, Time magazine, BBC News 24, The Times, Le Monde and Le Figaro to name but a few.

Until the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) Awards early this year, we’d never entered any awards before, now we’ve picked up three in as many months.

“The champagne will definitely be flowing for our golden effort.”

saveourseafarers.com a global campaign is backed by a consortium of international shipping organisations and its aim is to highlight the plight of innocent seafarers taken hostage by Somali pirates.
