FAMILIES are being urged to think green this Easter as they begin to spruce up the garden ready for summer.
The recent warm weather had many visiting the garden centre in the run up to the warmer months and United Utilities are reminding people to take care of the environment - and use water wisely.
Richard Blackwell, supply and demand manager, said: “We all want to able to enjoy our gardens this summer and water is a precious resource, so it’s important to strike the right balance between what we use in the home and garden and what we leave in the environment.”
The company offer some ‘waterwise’ tips to give nature a helping hand. Recommendations include: Using a water butt to collect rainwater, planting herb and olive trees, getting rid of weeds which hog moisture and using plant containers which retain more water.
