THE family of a man who died following a car crash in Carrington have paid tribute to him.

Police were called to Manchester Road, in Carrington, at 2.40pm on March 23 following reports a Volkswagen Beetle and Skodia Fabia had collided.

On arrival, officers discovered 56-year-old Gary Moore, from Irlam, was suffering from fractured ribs and a head injury.

He was taken to hospital but died on Thursday (March 29).

Mr Moore’s family said: “Gary leaves behind a loving wife Julie, sons Lee and David and grandson “Little Willhelm”.

“His passion was Rugby League. He played for the Navy and local clubs Ashton-on-Mersey and Shell Carrington.

“He later turned to coaching and set up an under-16s team called Trafford Bulldog ARLFC, winning several trophies.

“We are devastated by our sad loss and Gary will be sorely missed. Julie, a passenger in the collision, would like to express her sincere thanks to all the members of the public who helped at the scene.”

The driver of the Beetle received minor injuries and inquiries are ongoing.
