Plight of ignored stricken boy hits national headlines

THE plight of a collapsed Altrincham schoolboy who was ignored by commuters has hit the national headlines, after Messenger's exclusive article last week.

Messenger reported how no-one came to help Oliver Tiplady, 14, when he fainted on packed Altrincham Interchange's tram platform during morning rush-hour.

His mother, Sue, hit out at commuters for failing to help her son, who is a pupil at Blessed Thomas Holford Catholic College and was wearing his school uniform.

Oliver came around and managed to get to school, where staff called his mum, of Church Road, Urmston.

The article was later covered by a number of national newspapers.

Sue said of the reaction: "I hope this will make people stop and think, because it needs to be pointed out that too many people do walk past those who need help."
