SPORTS car enthusiasts went into top gear with their latest fundraising effort for St Ann’s Hospice.
The MG Owners Club gave £2,000 to the charity, twice the amount raised the previous year.
The classic car fans drove through the countryside on their so-called Cheshire Romp, raising funds along the way, and boosted the total with raffles.
“Trafford is quite a thriving area for owners of the MG and our members were only too keen to help such a deserving charity,” said area secretary Stella Bolton, from Timperley, herself an MG owner along with husband David.
It is thought there are more than 100 of the historic cars on the roads in south Manchester.
The MG Owners meet every third Monday at the Roebuck pub in Mobberley. Contact Andy Wright on 0161 969 5935 or email barbara.lozinski@zen.co.uk for more details.
