A CENTRE run by disabled people in Sale is preparing to celebrate after being awarded charity status.
Breakthrough UK, a charity supporting the disabled across the north west, developed the Trafford Centre for Independent Living, on Atkinson Road, with the council last March.
The St Giles Lodge facility will now be recognised officially as a charity and plans to mark this with a launch party next Wednesday.
Among those expected to attend are Trafford dignitaries and council members.
The event will focus on the newly formed charity’s pillars of independent living.
They include helping deaf and disabled people get equal access to employment, income, advocacy, housing and transport.
It also gives gives impartial and confidential advice about leisure activities, benefits available, personal budgets and adaptations.
About 30 exhibitors will be on hand on the day to provide guidance and advice.
