SALE residents will be stepping back in time for a Victorian-themed heritage open day.

The event at St Paul’s Parish Church on Springfield Road is taking place between 10am and 5pm on September 10.

Highlights include guided tours of the church tower and belfry, a display of artefacts and old photographs, an opportunity to look up family histories on the parish registers and a chance to hop aboard Sale Cruising Club’s narrow boats.

Professional storyteller Helen Stewart will tell stories for all ages at 2pm and there will be a traditional Punch and Judy Show, a Victorian dressing-up box and games for children.

There will also be a Victorian Afternoon Tea between 1pm and 3pm, strawberries and cream and a barbecue organised by St. Paul’s Brownies.

The Scout and Guide band and St. Paul’s Choir will provide musical entertainment and there will be performances from Ye olde Traditional Morris Men.
