ICELAND have announced that it is taking a 7,500 sq ft premises in phase two of the Eden Square development in Urmston town centre.

The frozen food specialist’s announcement comes after Aldi and Quality Save confirmed earlier this year that they would be tenants in the development.

A spokesperson from Iceland said the Urmston store would ‘fill a gap’ in their coverage of west Manchester and give them the opportunity to serve the community.

“Our retail offer will fit nicely alongside existing and new retailers at Eden Square and I’m sure the residents of Urmston will make good use of our home delivery service.

“We look forward to working with Ask Developments to bring about the earliest possible store opening.”

Phase two of Eden Square is now 85 per cent pre-let and just 3,000 sq ft of space is still available.

Ask Developments is currently concluding detailed discussions with the main contractor for a start date on site.

Leon Guyett, development director at Ask, said: “It is great to be able to finally announce the arrival of Iceland.

“Iceland is a fantastic addition both to Eden Square and to the wider shopping offer in Urmston.”

Executive Councillor Mike Cornes said: “I am delighted that we are able to announce Iceland as the third major retailer to commit to phase two and that the second phase is now more than 80 per cent let.

“These lettings add significant weight to Urmston as a retail destination will and complement those shopping facilities already operating in phase one, which include a mix of local and national retailers.

“I look forward to seeing work progressing and Iceland, Aldi and Quality Save joining the existing phase one retailers at Eden Square.”
