A BROOKLANDS hairdresser was left terrified after three masked men threatened to stab her during a robbery at her salon.

The co-owner of Total Hair Concept on Framingham Road, who doesn't want to be named, said she was ‘frightened to death’ during the violent robbery at 3pm on Saturday August 27, which took place when the salon was busy with three customers and four staff - including two teenage junior stylists.

The 33-year-old, who has owned the salon for six-and-a-half years, was putting highlights on a customer’s hair when she saw a man with a balaclava standing behind her.

Two more men came into the salon and began shouting at her to tell them where the safe was.

When she told them she didn’t have a safe one of the men grabbed her and threatened to stab her.

The mum-of-one said: “It was quite a violent attack. He had me up against the mirror and was shouting and swearing at me.

“I just wanted to protect the girls more than anything and I was in shock.

“They were very young, they were just tall skinny scallys.”

One of the salon’s customers, who was in the process of having her hair washed, managed to call the police and after grabbing money from the till, the robbers ran away.

“It was horrendous. I’ve not slept since because I just keep seeing these faces in their balaclavas.

“I’m frightened to death. I went in to work for the first time on Tuesday and jumped every time there was a noise.

“They are scumbags and should go and get a job. Why rob from people who work hard for their money,” she said.

The men are described as white, about 18 to 25-years-old, wearing balaclavas and hooded tops.

One was 5ft 7in tall, of slim build with a grey zip-up hooded top. The others were dressed in dark clothing.

Detective Constable Sonia Johnston appealed to anyone who saw the men hanging around the shop or fleeing after the robbery to contact them.

She said: "We need to catch these men as they are dangerous.”
