A DISABLED Sale mum is appealing to singers and music acts to enable a fundraiser to go ahead.

In May, 21-year-old Alisha Butters set up Disabled Parents Connection - a support group for parents with disabilities in Trafford.

Alisha had planned a fundraiser at The Brigadier on Firsway on September 9 with live music, but was left devastated when the music acts pulled out at the last minute The Newbury Avenue resident is appealing for singers and bands to volunteer their time and help a worthwhile cause by performing on the night.

She is hoping the event will raise £500, to cover the cost of the group holding meetings in Sale town centre for six months.

Members of Disabled Parents Connection currently meet for free at Sale West Youth Centre, a location that many find difficult to get to because of their disabilities.

Alisha, who suffers from Scheuermann’s disease, which causes deterioration of the spine, set up the group after finding it difficult to access services and meet other people in similar situations.

The former Ashton on Mersey pupil lives with her husband Marshal and three-year-old daughter Jaymie-Ann.

She said: “Having a disability and being a parent is quite isolating and you tend not to go out because it’s a struggle.

“The group is about offering support for parents with disabilities to help them cope with everyday life and any money we make will expand this to more people.”

One person the group has helped is 24-year-old Anthony Reynolds, who since attending the support group has enrolled at Trafford College on a business course.
