PLANS for a takeaway in Timperley have been refused for the third time because the food odours would be too much for residents.

At Trafford Council’s planning meeting on August 11, councillors unanimously voted against the application to transform a Park Road shop into a pizza delivery shop.

Two similar applications by the shop’s owner Ayuob Sattari were refused in January and April this year.

Councillors objected to the noise and disturbance caused by the shop and said the proposed flue would fail to mitigate the odours from cooking food.

They also believed that the flue’s design - next to an adjacent flat’s bedroom window - would affect the quality of life of the flat’s occupants.

Ward councillor Brenda Houraghan spoke in favour of the application and said it would be good for the area, creating jobs for residents and keeping a business, which is currently closed, open.

Four letters of objection were received from the occupiers of nearby properties stating that the takeaway would cause increased noise, disturbance, litter, parking problems and food smells.

A petition signed by 47 people and 23 letters of support - a significant number of which were from outside the area - were submitted in favour of the application arguing that the takeaway shop would be good for the local community and stop criminals targeting the vacant building.

Councillor Dan Bunting said the application was ‘identical in every respect’ to the previous one which had been rejected.

His thoughts were echoed by Cllr Mike Whetton who said although he would like to support the application, the flue was too much of a problem.
