MORE than 100 suspected criminals were arrested last week in a police crackdown in Trafford.
Between July 19 and 25, Trafford police made more than 30 raids on suspected criminals homes and arrested 103 suspected burglars, robbers and theives.
They also identified a stolen vehicle The crackdown was part of Operation Storm that was set up a year ago to reduce burglaries, robberies and car theft across Greater Manchester.z As part of the crackdown officers have served warrants, checked offenders are complying with bail and curfew conditions, and visited persistent criminals and those recently released from prison.
PCSOs have visited crime hotspot areas to give crime reduction advice and have patrolled high-risk car parks to ensure drivers leave valuables out of sight.
Residents have also been encouraged to register valuables on Immobilise.com to increase their chances of having recovered stolen property returned.
Detective Inspector Chris Downey, of Trafford’s Volume Crime Unit, said: “Through targeting criminals in their homes, in our communities and on the streets we have made significant progress in reducing all forms of theft and helped offenders make the choice between going straight or going straight to prison.
“I urge residents to play their part in the fight against these criminals by refusing to buy goods they suspect have been stolen and reporting their suspicions to us either directly on 01618725050 or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800555111.”
