A TIMPERLEY student has made it to the finals of the Miss Cheshire competition.

Emma Lawton, 20, from Tabley Grove is currently second favourite out of the 20 finalists.

The former Ashton on Mersey School pupil, who is studying acting in Stratford-upon-Avon, said she wants to win to show girls that personality is more important than looks.

“So many girls try so hard to get skinny and go to extreme measures, but it’s not about that anymore.

“Miss Cheshire is based on personality,” she said.

If Emma wins the Miss Cheshire title she will be entered into the Miss England competition.

Voting closes on June 4 and the votes give the girls an advantage for when they face the judges on June 5.

The most popular girl will win the title Miss Personality and the entrant who has raised the most money for the Variety Club will be crowned Miss Charity Cheshire.
