HOSPITAL louts will go to prison, Manchester's Stipendiary Magistrate Alan Berg has vowed.
Jailing a Stretford man for five months he voiced his grave concern at the increase in violence and aggression towards doctors and nurses.
"There was a time not long ago," said Mr Berg, "when hospitals were sacrosanct and the medical profession treated with respect.
"Bad behaviour in hospitals has become a social evil and it's something I will do my utmost to stamp out in this city."
Andrew Stroud, 32, of Urmston Lane, had admitted using threatening and abusive behaviour at Withington Hospital earlier this month.
The court heard how he cursed staff and exposed himself while demanding treatment for a leg injury caused by falling off a bus.
He was very drunk and smashed the glass in a door cutting his hand.
The Stipendiary told him: "Your behaviour was vulgar, aggressive and quite outrageous."
