THE World Peace Flame has arrived in Altrincham - on its way to the Millennium Dome.

It arrived at Loreto Prep where Mayor Ray Bowker and head teacher Sister Catherine were given candles lit from the special flame.

The pupils were also given little candles which had earlier been lit from the flame to take home with them.

The World Peace Fame is the brainchild of the Life Foundation Worldwide - a team of medical and health professionals who work in crisis zones around the world.

It was created by five individual Millennium flames that were lit by five peacemakers from Asia, Africa, Australasia, Europe and the Americas. The flames were flown by the air forces of the world and came together in July at the International Life Conference in Bangor, North Wales to create the flame.

The flame will be taken to venues throughout the world over the next year.

Any schools, churches or other groups interested in receiving the World Peace Flame should contact Denise on 980 3910.

A one day seminar teaching yoga therapies relaxation and a chance to work with the World Peace Flame is being held by the Life Foundation Worldwide, on Saturday, November 27, at Mechanics Institute, off Princes Street, Manchester. Call Dave Barry on 01625 610012 for tickets.
