CHINESE New Year kicked off in colour at the Trafford Centre, as it hosted a parade of acrobatics and authentic Chinese arts to mark the year of the tiger.

The centre's giant food hall, the Orient and the atmospheric Chinatown, were the starting point for celebrations, which carried over onto the main stage.

Manchester-based Chinese martial arts society Jin Long, led by champion martial artist Master Chen, brought an authentic taste of Chinese culture to the main stage with a host of entertainment and crafts.

The famous Shaolin Monks demonstrated their world-famous martial arts, and traditional contortion and blade acts also wowed the crowds.
