THE Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has launched a new campaign to reduce the amount of workplace accidents.
HSE figures revealed that 177 Trafford employees were seriously injured in 2009 by accidents at work.
Mike Cross, head of HSE operations in the north west, said the figures highlighted the serious nature of preventable incidents in the workplace.
“Slips, trips and falls might sound funny but they shatter the lives of thousands of British workers ever year.
“Making improvements doesn’t need to cost the earth and we are encouraging people to visit the Shattered Lives website, where they will be able to get simple and cost-effective solutions to help manage slip, trip and fall hazards in their workplace,” he said.
Across the north west there were three workplace deaths and 5,563 serious injuries last year - in Greater Manchester 2,089 people were seriously injured.
