Timperley robber flees empty handed


A MASKED man raided a newsagents in Timperley.

Police have revealed at 6.40pm on Tuesday, January 19, the offender entered the Martin's shop on Shaftesbury Avenue and made his way to the till area.

The shop assistant noticed what was happening and ran out of the store, fearing for her own safety.

The offender then jumped over the counter and tried to open the till. After a number of attempts, he was unsuccessful and left.

He made off down Stockport Road towards Timperley village.

He's described as 5ft 5ins tall in his early 20s, and wore a grey hooded top, green jacket with a black balaclava.

He also had a dark bag with a strap over his shoulder.

There were two other customers in the store at the time and police are appealing for them to come forward.
