The big switch over begins

1:55pm Tuesday 3rd November 2009

ANALOGUE television will begin its switch off this week in the Granada region as part of the UK’s conversion from terrestrial television to digital.

Freeview, BT Vision and TopupTV users needed to re-tune their digital boxes from tomorrow. BBC2 is no longer available on terrestrial television.

This is the first part of the digital switchover with the second due to take place on December 2 with users again needing to retune their digital boxes.

Cable and satellite users are not required to retune their digital boxes as they will be unaffected during the switchover.

The switchover will represent the biggest overnight change to television in UK history and will affect about 7.2 million people in the region.
